Volume I

In the broadest sense, "U.S.-Spain Comparative Professional Responsibility" is the study of the differences and similarities between the codes, customs, professional rules and judicial decisions governing the ethical and legal standards for the practice of law by attorneys in the U.S. and Spain. This volume is a compilation of the principal Codes of Professional Conduct in effect for attorneys in the United States and Spain. The volume is intended to serve as a convenient reference tool for lawyers, law students, law professors, judges, government agencies, bar associations and others interested in the legal systems and cross-border legal cooperation between attorneys in Spain and the United States.

The territorial organization of lawyers flows from three major sources of law: (1) the rules of admission to the practice of law within a certain territorial jurisdiction (2) the rules of organization of bar associations and (3) the disciplinary procedures for regulating attorney misconduct. This volume contains a compilation of all three of these major sources, including charts and maps to explain the territorial organization of bar associations of a significant group of geographical regions of the United States and Spain. This volume is intended to serve those interested in the legal systems of the United States of America and Spain.
